  • Marilyn Milne
    Director, Ganon Gil Early Education Center
  • Marilyn grew up in the Los Angeles area and received her BA in Child Development at CSU, Northridge, where she trained at the Preschool Laboratory as part of her Child Development studies.  She first became a teacher and worked at one of the first programs in the nation to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  Over time, she became more involved in the administration of that program, becoming its director in 1994.  After a move to San Diego, she became the Director of Ganon Gil ECC at Adat Shalom in 2007.

    Early Childhood Center has been her life’s work and passion.  She considers it a privilege to be able to work with her dedicated and committed staff and to have the sacred blessing to share in the lives of children and their families.

    Marilyn is married and has a grown son.  In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping, and stand-up paddle boarding.

  • Shelly Bloom
    Assistant Director, Ganon Gil Early Childhood Center
  • Shelly has been a teacher for more than 10 years, coming to Ganon Gil in 2016.  She has worked with children much of her life in religious schools, camps, and child care settings before becoming a full-time teacher.  She has a BA in English and many ECC units and loves being able to work with young children every day.  Shelly’s beautiful singing voice delights her young students.

  • Barbara Cohen
  • Barbara has taught at Ganon Gil ECC since 2004. She developed the center’s Jewish curriculum based on her experience in Early Childhood Center and her passion for Judaism. Barbara’s mantra is “patience, patience, patience” when working with children. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island in Communicative Disorders with a focus on Early Childhood Education and Spanish. She worked as a teacher in the NYC public schools before she and her family moved to San Diego. Barbara is married, has two grown sons, and is a fluent Hebrew and Spanish speaker.

  • Natalie has worked in a variety of schools for more than a decade and came to Ganon Gil this year. She enjoys being part of the GG family and making a difference in the lives of the children she teaches. In her free time, Natalie loves to travel and enjoys the company of family and friends.

  • Lexie Hall
  • Lexie has been working in the field of Early Childhood Center since 2009.  She has attended Miramar Community College.  Her interests include gardening and music.

  • Sarah Milch
  • Sarah is a native San Diegan who’s own two children are graduates of Ganon Gil. She has taught at several other Jewish preschools in the area and has been at Ganon Gil since 2006. She loves teaching the three-year old group and says, “Ganon Gil is my favorite place to work. Its small community is family- my home away from home.”

  • Lisa Silver
  • Lisa has both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Education. She has been teaching at Ganon Gil since 2013. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys the quality time she spends with family and friends exploring San Diego.

  • Lisa Pitesky
  • Lisa is a Southern California native, growing up in Los Angeles. Her whole life has been dedicated to the nurturing and development of children. She received an Associate Degree in Childhood Education and has taught in LA and San Diego. Lisa took a hiatus when she was raising her family, but now that her son and daughter are teenagers, she has become our Pre-K teacher, bringing her joy of teaching to the Ganon Gil campus. Lisa enjoys time spent with her family, going to the movies, and playing with her miniature poodle..

  • Esperanza Millan
  • Esperanza has worked in the child development field for over a decade. She is fluent in English and in Spanish. Esperanza enjoys expressing her creativity through art, crafts, improvised songs, and storytelling.

    Her motto is: each child, no matter how small, is their own person therefore they should be guided accordingly.

  • Irene Urbano
  • Irene attended Palomar College to earn her units in early childhood. She is Hispanic and grew up in Ramona California. She’s married and, in her free time, loves to explore and have different adventures. 

  • Emme Eker
  • Emme is a a student at Palomar College. She has always loved caring for children, and was always the family babysitter. Emme has cared for children from 3 months to 12 years old. She loves to teach them new things and learn from them along the way.

  • Fariba Rouhani
  • Fariba is Persian and moved to Australia when she was a teenager. She lived there for more than 20 years before moving to the United states over 10 years ago. She has two grown sons and one grandson that she loves and adores. Fariba has been caring for children of all ages for more than 15 years and loves working and spending time with them.  She loves her dog and spending time with family and friends.

  • Sharri Soledad
  • Sharri is originally from the Philippines, where discovered her passion for mentoring kids, which eventually led her to pursue a teaching career in 2004. She moved to San Diego in 2008, where she started a family and completed her ECE units, while further expanding her teaching experience. She is happy to find a home in Ganon Gil where she is able to share her passion for teaching along with her 2 year old daughter. Sharri hopes to eventually attain her Master’s Degree and that one day she would be able to write and publish her own children’s book.

  • We pledge to instill in your child a strong Jewish identity with an emphasis on Jewish values and traditions. Your child will be excited to celebrate Jewish holidays and weekly Shabbat celebrations with you.
